コンセプト　Concept

カルフール（carrefour）とはフランス語で「交差点」「きっかけ」といった意味があります。私自身が元々公務員だったのですが、２年間のアフリカ生活を経験し、今では愛媛で今のような生活を送っています。カメルーン、ハンドメイド、マッサージ、コーヒー、キッチンカー、青年海外協力隊、地方移住、古民家改装、、、。アフリカ生活が私の中で一つのキッカケとなり、人生が変わりました。

そんな私が作ったこの場所で、自然やものづくり、田舎生活など、色んなものに触れてもらい、その人にとって何か「面白いな」って感じてもらい、刺激を得れる場所にしていきたいと想い「カルフール​」と名付けました。

Carrefour means "crossroads" or "opportunity" in French. I used to be a civil servant, but after two years of living in Africa, I now live my life in Ehime. Cameroon, handmade, massage, coffee, food truck, Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, moving to rural areas, renovating old houses... My life in Africa was a turning point for me, and it changed my life.

I named this place "Carrefour" because I wanted people to be able to experience a variety of things in this place that I created, such as nature, craftsmanship, and rural life, and to find something interesting and inspiring for themselves.

今の拠点は、無職の時の古民家探しの旅の中で出会った今の物件です。ここから見える景色が好きで愛媛に移住しました。それから、アトリエ、キッチンカー、ゲストハウスと開業し、自分が好きな空間、経験をシュアしたいと少しづつ進めています。

My current base is a property I came across while I was unemployed and traveling looking for old houses. I moved to Ehime because I loved the view from here. Since then, I've opened an atelier, a food truck, and a guesthouse, and am slowly moving forward in my quest to secure the space and experiences I love.

I'd like to come to this space that I think is great and talk about all sorts of things with you all.

私がこの地でこれからも生活すると決めた理由は、​地区の方が守り続けてきた景色と文化があったからです。

今でも農業が盛んに行われ、老若男女みんなで地区の景観を守っています。そして、伝統のわら文化から、今では市のシンボルの一つになっている「わらマンモス」作りも毎年行われています。

​私の家から見える素晴らしい景色は、この住民の当たり前のように行っている生活からできていて、その取り組みにも関われている今がとても幸せです。

The reason I decided to continue living here is because of the scenery and culture that the local people have continued to protect.

Agriculture is still thriving, and people of all ages and genders are working together to protect the local scenery. And from the traditional straw culture, "straw mammoths" are made every year, which have now become one of the city's symbols.

The beautiful view from my house is the result of the everyday life of these residents, and I'm very happy to be involved in this effort.

紆余曲折はありましたが、一番初めに整備したのはアトリエです。

元々牛舎だった納屋の物出しから初め、掃除にカウンターや棚などを作って、装飾しました。

​今では、ハンドメイドの作業場として、アフリカ布を置いたり、私が撮ったカメルーンの思い出の写真などを飾っています。

There were many twists and turns, but the first thing I set up was an atelier.

I started by clearing out the things in the barn, which was originally a cowshed, then cleaned it, made counters and shelves, and decorated it.

Now it functions as a workshop for handmade crafts, and is decorated with African fabrics and photos that I have taken of my memories of Cameroon.

次にしたことが、自宅では飲食業の許可が取れないため、キッチンカーでの営業許可を撮ることにしました。

先生はYOUTUBE、自分で設計図を作って、仲間や車屋さんとともに作りました。

​これでテイクアウトですが、カフェとしてコーヒーを提供することができるようになりました。

The next thing we did was to get a license to operate a food service business from home, because we couldn't get a license to operate a food service business at home.

The teacher used YouTube to create the blueprints himself, and built it with the help of his friends and a food service shop owner.

Now we can provide coffee as a cafe, but only as takeaway.

そして、民泊整備も始めることにしました。

私が住んでいる住居は、２宅がつながっていて、もう1宅はもう十年以上も風も通したことのない状態でした。でも、色んな方の協力を得て、物だしや掃除、DIYをして、かなりいい状態になりました​。元々立派な作りの古民家だったので、私の趣味のアフリカ布をつかって、和とアフリカが混合したテイストの不思議空間になりました。畳も表替えだけして、100年以上使われている本畳を使っています。やはり完成すると嬉しいですね。

We also decided to start preparing a private lodging facility.

The house I live in has two connected houses, and the other house hadn't even had air in it for over ten years. However, with the help of many people, we cleared out the items, cleaned it, and did some DIY work, and it's now in much better condition. The house was originally a finely constructed old house, so I used African fabrics, which are my hobby, to create a mysterious space with a Japanese-African feel. We've only had to resurface the tatami mats, and are now using real tatami mats that are over 100 years old. It's always a joy to see it completed.
